Yeah for DSL!

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

Finally! After six months of limping along by only being able to get online using my USB cable and my cell phone for two hours at a time, I now have DSL. I know I probably could have had it early if I’d asked, but I was hoping to do a couple things. One, save [...]

AJAX and Ruby on Rails (etc.)

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Nope, this isn’t about the cleaning stuff or a facinating new setting for the red colored gem. It’s more tech stuff.
One of my classes this quarter is “Introduction to Programming.” Not something I really need. This class covers JavaScript, which I’ve gotten to know fairly well through other sources. So, during the class, inbetween paying [...]

Cleaning Binge

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Well, okay, maybe not a ‘binge’ but I did do a lot of cleaning today. After sitting at my computers for 5-ish hours, I decided I needed to get up and do something else for a while. I have been procrastinating on cleaning for a little while. So, I vacuumed all the carpets (except for [...]

Paparazzi!

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

No, this isn’t about those crazy photographers who like to follow celebrities around and take embarrassing pictures. Sorry. I was preparing to work on a presentation for the Library Project the other day, and my instructor suggested the program Paparazzi! (for OS X) to take screen shots of the websites we are working on redoing. [...]

Hummer Ads

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

I’m here at school working on stuff and in the lounge they have televisions playing some channel of TV (Don’t know which). Occasionally, I’ll notice something interesting that is playing. I just saw an H3 ad. I collect Hummer ads because they are so creative. I haven’t seen H3 ads before…I guess I haven’t looked [...]

MyPyramid.gov

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Some time ago, I was looking at the cereal box and was facinated by the advertisment for mypyramid.gov. While I haven’t yet fully utilized the site, it has a couple tools to help you better determine a general rule for what your food-pyramid ought to be based on your age, average activity amount and gender [...]

17″ Macbook Pro

Monday, April 24th, 2006

The big announcement for today is that Apple is now shipping their 17″ Macbook Pro. It even has a 8X Dual-layer DVD burner. At $2799, though, it’s a bit out of my budget at the moment. =P

Fluffy Clouds

Went out yesterday afternoon and took some pictures. Wonderful cloud formations. Very cool.

Night Lights

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

A couple weeks ago I went to a party on the invitation of one of my school friends. Her place is up on Mt. Washington, just south of Station Square. On my way home, I remembered that I had brought my camera, so I took a couple pans. Here they are:

…and…

Pittsburgh has wonderful colors at [...]

Stuck/Dead Pixels

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I learned something new yesterday. For about the last week, I’ve been enduring one green pixel that was stuck on my 19″ LCD I have connected to my PC. So, I decided to google and see if there were any tools or suggestions to be able to fix the problem. A stuck pixel will just [...]
